Packaging
Packaging
Packing involves a set of activities through which goods are properly protected, wrapped, labeled with a shipping label or other markings, and prepared for transport. The goal of packing is to ensure that the goods are delivered undamaged, in accordance with the customer’s or recipient’s requirements (e.g., placement plan), and in line with logistics standards (e.g., package size, weight, transport stability).
How does the packing process work?
- The staff checks the correctness of the items by scanning barcodes and resolves any discrepancies
- Based on the type and size of the goods, or upon client request, they select suitable packaging material (box, plastic wrap, envelope, etc.)
- To prevent movement during transport, they fill empty space with bubble wrap, air cushions, cardboard fill, or eco-friendly alternatives
- They place promotional items, brochures, or invoices inside the package
- The package is sealed and labeled with a shipping label or other necessary markings
- The shipment is handed over for dispatch depending on the selected carrier
Packing is not just a technical task. It’s a strategic tool that impacts customer satisfaction, logistics efficiency, the company’s ecological footprint, and the overall brand image. A well-designed packing process reduces returns, optimizes costs, and increases a company’s credibility in the market.
